    Birthday Bingo Speaking Activity

    This activity is specifically designed for EFL student in Korea to learn months and dates in English.

    There are 23 unique bingo sheets. Students write their own birthday in English at the top, then ask other students when their birthdays are until they can fill the a row or the entire page.

    With my class of 23 students, this activity took about 15 minutes.

    What Season Is It Word Search Worksheet

    This worksheet reviews seasons and activities you can do in each season. I made it for the YBM lesson “What season do you like?” but I imagine it can be used for any seasons related EFL/ESL/ELA English lesson. It includes and word search and complete the sentence exercise.

    It is designed to be printed in color on A4 paper. Student version and answer key below.

    Before the Activity

    Briefly review the target vocabulary or expressions.

    After the Activity

    1. Review answers together as a class.
    2. Make sure students check their spelling.
    3. Have students read the sentences out loud.

    Teacher Notes

    • You can also add pair work activity where students use the worksheet to ask each other about their favorite seasons and explain what they do in each season.

    Hidden Message Word Search Review

    This was an ESL English worksheet I made for students to review lessons about months of the year and school activities from their textbook, so the word list is quite specific, but hopefully it can be of use to someone!

    In this worksheet, you must find the words just as in a regular word search, but there is an additional step of finding a hidden message using the remaining unused letters!

    This is designed on A4 paper as a half sheet to save paper, so you’ll have to cut the pages in half. Student version and answer key included below.

    Teacher Notes

    • Words can go left to right OR right to left, which makes it a bit harder for some students
    • The unused remaining letters are in order from left to right, top to bottom, so students can easily find the hidden word if they circle the letters clearly.

    Students practice writing seasons and why they enjoy each season in English. After completing part C, I have students discuss their favorite seasons using the dialogue structure from part B. The back is an optional maze for students who finish a bit faster than others.

    This sheet is formatted as a half sheet to save paper, so you’ll need to cut the pages in half. Designed to print double-sided in color on A4 paper. I’ve provided a student version and answer key version for reference.

    3. Have students present their favorite season and what they like to do during each season. I go through each season and ask students to raise their hand if they chose that season as their favorite, then I call on students to explain why.

    Teacher Notes

    • This is a relatively simple activity so it works well as a warm-up or review lesson.
    • The maze on the back is optional for students who finish a bit more quickly.
