This EFL/ESL crossword puzzle worksheet helps students distinguish between “this” and “that,” as well as practice simple vocabulary including ball, doll, hat, clock, and bag.
It includes a simple crossword puzzle followed by a “fill in the missing vowels” spelling activity.
This worksheet is similar to my other What’s This? Worksheet, which may be slightly easier for some students.
I like my worksheets to always have a front and back side, so I recommend pairing this with my This or That? Worksheet and printing double sided!
This worksheet is designed as a half sheet on A4 paper, so you will need to cut the pages in half.
There are two student versions, one that is English only, and one with Korean translations. The Korean version has definitions for the crossword words, which may be helpful as extra hints and/or reinforce meanings for students who may need it.

I find that my 3rd grade students really struggle with using the correct vowels when spelling “clock,” “doll,” and “ball.” My students usually guess that the spellings are “clack,” dall,” and “boll.”
This worksheet looks very simple but it really helps bring this simple spelling issue to their attention!
